We were previously funded for a project and wanted to put forward another application that builds on the last project. Would that be eligible?

Yes, applications that seek to include an enhancement, new target audience, expansion (including delivery in a different location) will be considered.

Will projects responding to Domestic and Family Violence and/or Sexual Violence projects be supported?

Yes, the Empowering Queensland Women grant program will continue to support programs for women and girls who have experienced domestic and family violence and/or sexual violence, where it is clear that the focus of the program is to enhance their economic security.

Can the project have additional funding from another source?

Yes, applications that include in-kind or cash contributions from partners and/or your organisation are welcome to apply. Applications need to clearly articulate all funding sources for the proposed project and whether the funds are confirmed.

Can I apply if I have an existing grant with the Office for Women?

Yes, however, please ensure you have no overdue activity reports.

What is meant by business as usual?

Business as usual refers to the ordinary operations of a company or organisation.

What is an auspice arrangement?

An auspice arrangement is a partnership between two or more organisations and is typically used where one of the organisations is ineligible to apply for funding (such as a for-profit entity, unincorporated organisation or sole trader).

An auspice organisation will ensure the eligibility criteria of the program is met and will administer the funding on behalf of another organisation or community group. The auspice organisation will enter into an agreement with the department and take legal and financial responsibility for the agreement.

If your application includes an auspice arrangement, you will need to provide evidence of the agreement.

Is an in-kind contribution or cash contribution needed?

It is not compulsory to include a contribution, however the panel does take note of confirmed partnerships and contributions. You are encouraged to include letters of support for those partnerships or contributions.

Could there be a few elements within the application? For instance, could it cover establishing support for women's economic literacy as well as developing resources?

Yes, there can be different associated elements (and outcomes) in your application.

Can I submit more than one application.

There can be only one application per ABN per round.

If I am successful in this round, can I apply again next round?

Yes, you can apply for a different initiative each round. The same initiative in the same location will not be funded more than once. Take care to distinguish the activities outlined in your grant application from business as usual.

Is there ongoing funding?

No, the Empowering Queensland women grant program provides one-off funding only. Your project needs to be deliverable without the use of recurrent or ongoing funding.

Can a for-profit business apply?

Please refer to the eligibility section in the grant guidelines. For profit businesses are not eligible, but may wish to partner with an eligible entity

Can I ring the contact line for advice on the best initiative to submit?

To maintain fairness and integrity, we cannot provide advice on individual initiatives prior to application. . We recommend seeking advice from a sector colleague, or community member. Try to have someone who doesn’t know about the initiative review your application for feedback on clarity.

Should I include every single item for an event budget?

Yes, a detailed budget is essential and assists the panel to understand where the funds are being utilised and whether it represents value-for-money. You can add as many lines as you like to make the budget clearer.

Do I need to include support letters?

Yes, if the delivery of your initiative is contingent on the support from another organisation, support letters must be provided.

Does my project need to be delivered only to women?

We acknowledge that everyone has a role to play in working towards gender equality. Grants that address inequality, promote respect and support for women and girls are the focus, however your project may engage the whole community.

Do you give feedback to unsuccessful grant applications?

No, we are not able to provide individual feedback due to the large volume of applications received. However, we will provide general feedback at the conclusion of each round. This will be available on the Empowering Queensland Women page.

When will I be notified if my application is successful?

All applicants will be notified of the outcome via email. The Office for Women is unable to provide information on the status of individual applications during the assessment process.
