Domestic and sexual violence
Women experience higher rates of domestic and sexual violence than men throughout their lives. The Queensland Government maintains that violence against women is unacceptable and unlawful. It is committed to building safer and more supportive communities where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and fairness. Several resources and publications are available on these topics.
Whole of Government Domestic and Family Violence Strategy
In Rockhampton on 10 July 2009, the Honourable Karen Struthers MP, Minister for Communities and Housing and Minister for Women, launched For Our Sons and Daughters - A Queensland Government strategy to reduce domestic and family violence 2009-2014 and the first year's Program of Action.
