In the regions
Regional coordinators help extend benefits to more Queensland women
A team of regional coordinators is working with other government agencies and community organisations to help promote women's needs and encourage the delivery of women's services throughout the state.
The mobile regional coordinators travel throughout their regions partnering with other organisations and helping them to develop services that meet women's needs. Being in contact with services on the ground, they also develop a strong understanding of local women's priorities. This information is used to keep government policies in touch with the challenges women face.

Progress so far
Since starting in mid-May 2006, the regional coordinators have made valuable connections with government and non-government organisations.
They are:
- engaging with and connecting women across Queensland (in particular those who are isolated in rural and remote areas) to strengthen partnerships, build networks, promote collaboration and build capacity at the local level
- increasing the awareness, accessibility and profile of government services and initiatives for women
- collecting local intelligence about regional issues and trends impacting on women's lives to inform policy analysis and development
- building and leveraging benefits that are regionally available through existing services and infrastructure
- supporting statewide information needs and specific activities and events for women across Queensland.
The Office for Women statewide engagement strategy links closely with other government initiatives such as the Strengthening Non-Government Organisations and Blueprint for the Bush initiatives and the Queensland Skills Plan, by providing an essential gender perspective.
